A Little Birdie Told Me...

A birthday card for Mike's aunt Janette. Love this cat and bird stamp by Laurel Burch/Stampendous!

I used Prima Confections Watercolours on the cat and bird. Cut the image out. Stamped it again on watercolour paper and just coloured the bird and tail; cut them out; popped them up on base image.

The sentiment stamp is from Stamping Bella. Background TH Texture Fade, called Book Cover 1. Used Distress Oxides for background colours. Washi Tape top and bottom. Sequins here and there!

Inside. All sentiment stamps are from various TH collections.

Back. More Washi Tape and leftover piece of front cover.

  Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you have a terrific week!

Altered Playing Cards - Halloween

First time with altering playing cards. Very much like ATCs.

Had fun making these with my new to me stamps. The Tim Holtz pumpkins and vampire stamps. The Frankenstein and Bride Of stamps are from Viva Las Vegas Stamps.

The first one is an image from a Halloween set from a couple of years ago by Graphic 45.

  Here they are individually:

The pumpkin card taken out of the tuck on the card.

I'm going to make more of these for sure! On the backs of each card, I just glued on patterned paper.

Just had our Thanksgiving weekend and now we're on a week's vacation. No plans. Relax and get inky, I hope!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a wonderful week!

Not my monkeys...

Hee hee! My friend Nancy likes monkeys(?!), so there was no doubt in my mind what stamp to use to make her birthday card!

I have now used all the Hipster characters from the TH Stampers stamp set. A great set of sets and matching dies!

The sentiment stamp is also TH/Stampers. It's from the Life Quotes set.

LOVE the new Distress Oxides! Fabulous inks for background blends! Added some drywall tape, cheesecloth, a star and texture paste with a star stencil. Coloured the monkey with pencils and Gamsol.

The inside. Sentiment, "Life is a zoo..." is from a Dyan Reavley stamp set. Happy Birthday sentiment stamp from my stash.

Some more Distress Oxides for background, along with texture paste and diamond stencil. Doodling around the edges and drywall tape at the bottom.

  The back.

Four of us played 8 holes of golf today, and then went for brunch. I gave her the card and a few monkeys, just in case I didn't see her on her birthday, Oct. 2nd.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a word or two!

A Geared Up Card

A thank you card for Adam, my summer help in the library. His last day with me was Friday. He's taking mechanical engineering at the local university.

This was fun! Paper is from TH collection. Used an extra large tag folded in half.

Added gear embellishments and drywall tape.

Inside. Left a lot of blank areas for others to add their wishes. Also blank on the left side.

The back.

Adam on the microfilm machine. He loved it!

Best wishes Adam!
Thanks for your company and help!

Button BINGO

I saw a few of these Button Bingo cards on Pinterest and thought it was a great idea! I had picked up a bag of old bingo cards at a yard sale a couple of years ago. They are nice and big and thick.

The adjustable easel stand is from Michaels. The base is cast iron and it came with a wood frame. At the back it has to adjustable wing nuts, so you can lower or raise the frame.

It was in the frame section of the store. Tim Holtz has one almost identical, but it's steel.

I mounted the bingo card with buttons on the 4x6 black heavy mat that came with the frame, and glued to the pink ribbon I attached around the opening of the frame. I typed the word "button", printed it off and cut it out. Popped it up with foam squares. Added some seam binding and a TH metal star.

Think I will make another one using metal buttons and more "grungy"! Nice way to display your favourite buttons!

Thanks for stopping by! Back at work after having 2 weeks off is really hateful! lol!

Fearless House Cat

Had fun using the Tim Holtz Display Hanger. I only have one more of the Hipster stamps left to get inky.

I used coloured pencils and Gamsol. Used colours that were similar to my Abby Cat, who is an Abyssinian.

All paper used is from TH Dapper set.

Forgot to tint eyes green! Here is a photo with eyes tinted green with chalk.

All Dolled Up....#hipforsummer

Love love love Hipsters! Made this for a dear friend for her birthday next month.

Also in love with Distress Oxides! Got my order in for the next 12! The sentiment is from my stash and I have no idea where it came from!

I added Nuvo Crystal Drops, Gloss White to the ostrich to make it look like earrings and a necklace. Coloured them both with coloured pencils. Tim's Gothic stencil at the top, doodling around the edge.

Love the matching dies. Used some 3D Thin black foam squares.

The inside. The 3 sentiment stamps are from Tim's Crazy Talk set. "Because..." is from one of the Chit Chat or Small Talk sticker sets. Doily stencil at top.

  The back.

Going to enter this in The Sizzix "Get Hip For Summer with Tim Holtz" This is the last week for it. #hipforsummer.

Also, this will be my second entry for a Flickr group I am with. It's the "Anything Goes" July challenge.

More Rolo Cards

More Rolodex cards I made over the past couple of years but never took photos or posted any of them.

Here they are showing the fronts and backs:

Set 1:

Set 2:

Set 3:

Backs

Set 3 were the first ones I made. I didn't get too fancy.

Here's the Rolodex I found at a local Value Village. Love it! It's from the early '50s, I believe. Even has the original pencil in the pencil slot, and index cards. It was full of blank cards. What a find for only $4!

This is my new obsession! Give it try if you haven't already. Great way to save your favourite paper if it's been discontinued. You could even put family photos on them

Here's the die I purchased, just in case I run out of cards that came with the machine. I have 3 Rolodexes in total. Sizzix calls it, Cards, Telephone & Address card dies:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're having a great summer! Lots of sunshine here this week! Hope you have time to get inky!

Altered Rolodex Cards

  Happy Canada Day
to all my family and friends!
The big 150!

Having a great day in my craft room. We have next week off too!

Made 3 more "Rolo" or Rolodex cards. I made the moustache fella a few weeks ago. Lots of fun! Using stamps and I haven't used before! (I know, eh?!), some favourite papers, and bling!

Here are the backs. I decided not to decorate the backs too much, like I have done with previous cards.

Here they are individually:

Love making these! If you haven't tried altering Rolodex cards, give it a go! Great way to use up scrap, small stamps, and embellies!
